Dynamic presence of TMEDE at the Annual General Assembly of the European Association of Guarantee Institutions (AECM) in Warsaw

TMEDE actively participated in the Annual General Assembly of the European Association of Guarantee Institutions (AECM), held in Warsaw between 6 – 8 June, 2024. The central theme of this year’s meeting was “The Twin Transition: Towards a Green and Digital Economy.”

Following the General Assembly, the Association’s annual specialized seminar offered participants a deep dive into essential knowledge and practical skills. This highly impactful, comprehensive, and interactive experience blended theoretical training with real-world application. The participants had the opportunity to interact with leading industry professionals, analyze real case studies, and share their knowledge about tools and techniques that can be immediately applied in the organizations they represent.

As in previous years, TMEDE’s participation was notable, with President Konstantinos Makedos delivering a keynote address in the thematic session “Internal Control System of the Guarantee Schemes.” Mr. Makedos provided a detailed overview of TMEDE’s digital operational model, the digital internal control system implemented across TMEDE group companies, and his initiatives for transitioning towards a green and digital economy.

Mr. Makedos emphasized the importance of digital upgrading and green practices for sustainable development and enhancing the effectiveness of guarantee tools, while his presentation received particularly positive feedback and served as an valuable reference point for AECM members.

Furthermore, the President of TMEDE congratulated the Managing Director of the Hellenic Development Bank (HDB), Ismini Papakyrillou, on her unanimous election to the AECM Board of Directors of AECM. Ms. Papakyrillou in her address, referred to the close collaboration that has been developed between HDB and TMEDE, aimed at supporting SMEs, freelance engineers, and public works contractors through the HDB – TMEDE Guarantee Fund.

TMEDE, a full member of AECM, benefits from the exchange of best practices at an international level, continuous access to information on industry developments, and participation in conferences, studies, and events.

AECM is a robust and reputable organization, with 48 members from 31 countries. Since its foundation in 1992, its members have provided guarantees to over 5.2 million small and medium-sized enterprises in Europe.

TMEDE’s engagement in the annual AECM meeting underscores its commitment to fostering the green and digital economy and its dedication to strengthening international cooperation in guarantee services.
