P.O.MI.T.E.D.Y. Event at the TMEDE Building: \u201cEngineers in the Public Sector: From Signature to Disciplinary Liability\u201d<\/b><\/div><\/h1><\/div>
The event organized by the\u00a0Panhellenic Federation of Public\u00a0Servant\u00a0Engineers\u00a0in the\u00a0Technical Sector\u00a0of Higher\u00a0Education\u00a0(P.O.MI.T.E.D.Y.)\u00a0<\/b>under the title\u00a0\u201cEngineers in the Public Sector: From Signature to Disciplinary Liability\u201d<\/i>\u00a0was successfully held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the TMEDE building.<\/div>\n
The strong participation once again confirmed the dynamism of the technical community, while also highlighting the importance of the issues faced by engineers in the public sector and the need for meaningful solutions that respond to their real challenges.<\/div>\n
At the same time, the fact that such initiatives are held at the Fund\u2019s building reaffirms its role as an institutional point of reference \u2014 a venue that brings together technical knowledge, experience and financial tools.<\/div>\n
The speakers delivered high-level and thoroughly documented presentations, offering an in-depth analysis of the disciplinary framework, the responsibilities arising from the exercise of professional duties, and the legal protection tools available.<\/div>\n
Opening remarks were delivered by the President of TMEDE, Mr. Konstantinos Makedos, who, among other things, stressed:<\/div>\n

\u201cThe role of the engineer in public administration is crucial and multifaceted, as engineers serve as guardians of legality, technical soundness and the public interest. Through their scientific expertise and professional responsibility, they are called upon to make critical decisions that affect the safety of projects, the quality of infrastructure and the daily lives of citizens. At the same time, they often operate in a demanding environment, where balancing hierarchical instructions with compliance with the law requires a high degree of professionalism, independence and ethical integrity. For this reason, strengthening their institutional safeguards is not merely a matter of professional protection, but a prerequisite for effective, transparent and reliable public administration.<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

As TMEDE, we recognise the decisive role of engineers in the functioning of public administration and in the implementation of projects that directly affect society and the country\u2019s development. Ensuring a fair, functional and effective framework for the performance of their duties is a shared responsibility for all of us.<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

At the same time, it is important to stress that any reform of disciplinary law must aim at the rationalisation and improvement of public administration, while also safeguarding employees\u2019 fundamental rights, transparency and institutional stability. Any departure from these principles gives rise to legitimate concerns and makes meaningful dialogue among stakeholders all the more necessary.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n
